Dragon Coaster in
Festival Park
The Beastie in Thunder Valley
Down in the depths of
Adventure Land lives a friendly dragon, who enjoys nothing more then
giving the park's youngest guests their very first taste of the
thrills and spills of coasters.
This pink knuckle coaster's brightly painted in red and blue and isn't
very tall or scary to look at, but still goes quite fast in places for
a children's coaster and you will need to hold on! It is a fantastic
little ride for kids, young or old, which usually goes around the
circuit twice.
Attraction History
These days The Beastie
is the oldest rollercoaster operating in the park. It first arrived
for the 1983 season, known back then as the Dragon Coaster and was
located in Festival Park, behind what is now the photo booth for SW6.
It remained in Festival
Park throughout the 80s and until 1992 when it was relocated to become
part of the formidable line up of coasters in Thunder Valley alongside
the Thunder Looper, The Beast and later Nemesis. Being regarded as a
junior equivalent of The Beast for younger guests the ride became
known as the Beastie, a name which has stuck with the ride longer
after it's older brother left the park.
In 1997 the Beastie,
along with the Gallopers Carousel, moved to the new Adventure Land to
the position it resides in to this day.
