Scarefest is to return to
Alton Towers for its second season in 2008, with the park unleashing their
customary array of spooky fun and frolics upon an unwitting
public, for days and night of family frights!
Building upon the
success of last year's event the park will be bursting at the seams
with all your favourite Scarefest attractions along with one or two
new frights to leave you quaking in your boots.
So assume the
position and prepare for a scare, as we take a look at what Alton
Towers has planned for the most hair-raising time of the year.
In the Park
Once again this year, the centrepiece of the park's
Halloween celebrations will be Terror of the
Towers,
the horror maze set deep within the ruins of the Towers
themselves. Dare you enter this gothic labyrinth, be warned the
Master does not care for trespassers and he and his gruesome
array of servants have been known to give chase to unwary souls.
Elsewhere the
park's spooky walkthrough is set to notch up the scares once again
for Haunted Hollow: Live! Join some of the Haunted Hollow's residents as
they guide you to Gloomy Wood along a short-cut that
is sure to leave even the most intrepid explorer trembling in their
boots. Also, This Halloween the Haunted House really will strike
back as the park's ghoul-infester dark ride gets a little bit darker
for Duel: Live! Thank goodness the park arm you with guns,
because this time the zombies really are coming to get you...
What
Halloween celebration would be complete without Skelvin, Phil,
Patch and Franklin, the park's mischievous Halloween Characters,
who once again will be roaming the park to provide fun and frights
for all the family. And brave young souls will also be able to try for a prize or risk
a surprise by knocking on one of the Trick or Treat Doors,
with Millicent, Molly and naughty Meg. Or
why not join Lucy in the Cred Street Theatre as she discovers what's
going bump in the night in the brand new Scarefest show The
Haunting of Algenon's Attic.
As ever the park will be transformed into a spook's playground
during the Scarefest including the traditional decorations, this year including the new
Giant Pumpkin photo points, which can be
found at various places around the park to capture a souvenir of
your day. And of course closing later can mean only one thing,
the chance to ride some of your favourite Rides in the Dark.
In the Resort
Over in the Hotels, those who were brave enough to explore Room 13
may have noticed that ghostly activity had been on the increase over
the past few seasons. So much so that this year the staff
felt it was far too dangerous to let guests in. RIP.
But feat not (or fear
a lot), while the chains remain on the hotel's old maze, reports
have been coming in that strange activity has been occurring out in
the hotel's defunct and dilapidated heating shack. And so, new for
2008, Alton Towers invites you to join them to discover what really
makes the pipes in the hotel rattle by exploring their terrifying
new maze,
The Boiler House!
Else where in the hotels things are certain to go bump in the
night in the resort's brand new Trick or Treat Rooms.
Check in to one of these specially
dedicated rooms and prepare for a night of family frights. Will Dad
get a forfeit? Will Mum be in for a pleasant surprise? One thing's
for sure there'll be plenty of fun for all. And what better way
could there be to round off a spooky stay in the hotels then with a
Character Breakfast, where you can meet one of the resort's
Halloween mascots over your Full English and a mug of tea!
Whatever happened to
Constable Yates? Few who experienced them can forget the horrors that
transpired down on Altonville Farm last year. But for those who just
can't get enough, venture back to their sedate pastures for Field of a
Thousand Screams: The Aftermath, a maze of maize where nothing is as it seems
and the corn holds some terrible secrets.
And once you've had
your fill of scares, there'll be no better way to relax then with an
evening of entertainment, with the all singing, all swinging Dance with the Devil show
in the Alton Towers Hotel. Or for younger guests why not go on a
Ghost Hunt with Pirate Bill, to banish the ghouls before they
head off to bed.
Alton Towers'
Scarefest is due to run
between
17th October and 2nd November and with late night opening across the
resort, as darkness falls the walkthroughs in both the park and
hotels promise to become even more terrifying. For more
information and for Halloween fun and games, head over to the
official
Scarefest website... if you dare!
