For many years, the Skyline of Festival Park was dominated by 1001 Nights,
which was one of the tallest rides to ever operated at Alton Towers.
The ride took the idea of traditional Magic Carpet rides to a whole
new level - that level being 26m in the air to which passengers were whisked up and down in huge vertical circles.
Sweeping over the top of the tree tops the ride offered truly unique
views across the park and surrounding countryside, views which have
been sadly lacking ever since the ride was replaced by the Energizer
in 1995.
