Alton Towers have finally revealed the true identity of their new-for-2010 £15million rollercoaster attraction as "Thirteen". The number, which has many connotations of "fear" and "unluckiness", will presumably be used in all marketing henceforth.
Along with their Winter brochure release, Alton Towers have revealed the opening day for the 2010 season which, most likely, will also be the opening day for the new rollercoaster - codenamed Secret Weapon Six.
Today sees the launch of a brand new pocket guide to Alton Towers, available from a range of internet booksellers, covering just about everything the visitor to the park might need to know before their visit to Alton Towers.
Rita - Queen of Speed was closed on Monday (13th April) for the whole day as technical services attempted to get the ride operating again. Spinball Whizzer was also unavailable for some hours as the park saw one of it's worst days for downtime in some time.
The much troubled company that brought Yourday to Alton Towers has called in Administrators to liquidate the company's assets, effectively bringing the availability of the short lived DVD souvenir to an end.
TowersTimes would like to confirm that there have been no hotel plans released for 2012, and that the Speedo-clad 50 year old that jumped into the Shark pool inside the new Sea Life aquarium was, after all, a complete figment of the imagination. Alton Towers new rollercoaster for the 2010 season has been approved, just minutes ago, by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. The ride, which will replace the Corkscrew, is dubbed to have world first features and has been codenamed "Secret Weapon Six".
The 2009 Alton Towers map was launched in The Sun today. As has become tradition, the daily newspaper ran a feature on the park in the run up to the start of the new season on 28th March.
It was also revealed that the Ug Swinger, which will relocate to Cloud Cuckoo Land as a giant mushroom, will now be known as the Twirling Toadstool and the Cred Street Playground will become Wobble World.
